We're back at top London jazz club Hideaway Streatham for another Sunday jazz lunch. This time we're celebrating the music of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong! 

Expect to hear your favourite songs from each artist, along with re-creations of some of their legendary 'Duet' recordings.

Jazz singer and West End actress Katie Birtill hosts a night which combines musical theatre and jazz to celebrate love in all its glorious forms. Performing with her stunning jazz quartet plus some West End special guests, the night will be full of your favourite classic and contemporary show tunes that will follow the journey of love from infatuation, through heartbreak to true love with some laughter along the way. As well as singing selections from her chart-topping album such as Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man from Showboat and Goodbye Until Tomorrow from The Last Five Years, she will also be debuting some new arrangements of songs from current West End favourites Waitress and Company and many more.

First off we're at the Arena Stage for a set of 1940s big band music from 4.15pm.

Then we head to the undercover Control Tower Stage at 8.15pm with two sets of vintage dance music to get you dancing into the small hours.

Katie Birtill will be playing the role of ditzy Madeline Basset in Alan Ayckbourn and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical adaptation of P.G Woodhouse's books, By Jeeves. 

The show is going to be directed by Alan Ayckbourn himself, Katie is looking forward to working with him again after working with him on The Boy Who Fell Into A Book.

Proinnsias was at the podium from 1978 until 2003 and led the orchestra is some of its finest moments both here and around the world. Performing with her stunning jazz quartet, the night will be a celebration of reimagined classic and contemporary showtunes, many reflecting Birtill's musical theatre career, including Sweet Charity, The Last Five Years, Guys and Dolls, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and many more.

  Birtill has combined her two loves of jazz and musical theatre to create an album which is fresh and exciting, showcasing her warm and versatile vocals and heartfelt, genuine storytelling.

Big Band Bash: Down For The Count

 To open our 2018 EFG London Jazz Festival Series, we present the toe tapping, hip swaying and finger popping happy sounds of the swing era. And for their debut concert at The Other Palace Studio, the wonderful 11-piece Swing Orchestra, ‘Down For The Count’ with their vocalists, under the direction of pianist, arranger Mike Paul-Smith.

Hear your musical heroes come to life for one epic night in this must-see show of classic rock anthems and hit songs performed by the amplified Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and rhythm section.
