Courage To Be Heard - Workshop
A one-day workshop for building courage in your singing and performance.
Service Description
Courage to Be Heard is a one-day workshop designed for singers and performers who want to feel grounded, confident, and fully present on stage. Many performers know their technique works in practice, but when the lights are on and an audience is watching, nerves, tension, or self-doubt can take over. This workshop is about moving beyond “just coping” and discovering how to perform with authenticity, freedom, and courage. Through practical, experiential exercises, you’ll learn how to connect your voice, body, and mind so you can stay calm, focused, and expressive under pressure. You’ll explore grounding techniques, breath and posture exercises, and performance tools that help your voice stay supported even in high-stakes moments. The workshop is structured to give you repeated opportunities to perform in a safe, supportive space, with gentle guidance to help you stretch beyond your comfort zone without ever feeling pushed. By the end of the day, you’ll have practical tools to manage nerves, feel more embodied in your performances, and access the courage to express your true musical and emotional voice. Whether you’re preparing for a live performance, audition, or simply want to feel more confident singing in front of others, this workshop will give you strategies you can return to again and again. This workshop is suitable for singers of all levels. You don’t need to be fearless or a professional — just open to exploring and stepping into your voice at your own pace. With a maximum group size to keep the space intimate and focused, you’ll receive personalised guidance, supportive feedback, and the chance to witness others finding their own courage — often the most inspiring part. Led by Katie Burtill, an international singer, musical theatre performer, and performance coach with experience performing with the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and in musical theatre productions, this workshop combines professional insight with a practical, compassionate approach. Katie’s teaching blends classical performance training, music psychology, and body-based techniques to help singers feel safe, confident, and truly heard on stage. Whether you’ve struggled with nerves, self-doubt, or just want to explore your performance presence more fully, Courage to Be Heard will help you discover the courage to step forward, connect with your audience, and sing with freedom, clarity, and truth
